Burglars Hit Homes In Lawrenceburg And Five Points
Residents in both Lawrenceburg and Five Points have filed complaints with local law enforcement agencies this week, reporting thieves had targeted their homes while they were away.
A resident of Hobbs Lane reported to officers with the Lawrenceburg Police Department Monday that thieves removed a screen from a kitchen window she normally kept partially open, gaining access to the home. Jewelry and change was taken, valued at $575.
Officers were dispatched to a Granddaddy Road home Tuesday where the resident reported someone had stolen her dogs. The victim indicated that the chocolate Labrador Retriever and white and brown Boxer had been chained in the back yard.
She discovered they were missing Sunday when she went to feed them. She said the theft took place between 8:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Although the family scoured the neighborhood, they report there was no sign of the dogs.
Deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department were sent Monday to investigate a burglary at a Warren Hollow Road home in the Five Points community.
There McMinnville resident Brian Howard Whitehead reported several items missing. He told deputies he was in the process of moving into the home and that owner Theodore Scott Johnson resides in Alaska.
Whitehead reported he had been away from the home for around a week. He returned to find that his lawnmower and yard tools were missing.
Whitehead said he saw that a side door was ajar. He looked inside to find that the washer and dryer were missing. A central unit was reportedly taken apart and the majority of the parts were stolen.
Wire was stripped from an electrical conduit that ran the length of the trailer and various items were also stolen from the interior of the home. Losses are estimated to be in excess of $3,000.
The cases currently remain under investigation. Anyone with useful information is encouraged to contact the police department at 762-2276 or the sheriff’s department at 762-3626.
